These pages contain details of a collaborative project with a member of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Leeds. Much of the work is in the design and construction of electronic control circuits to allow the artist to realise his concept in a form suitable for unattended use in a gallery or museum setting. The design must put the least technological constraints on the artist's work as possible. The image on the left is of the work in progress. A major consideration was how the artist could express his design of light patterns in a way which made sense at the artistic level but translated the input into a form suitable for loading into the microcontroller being used to control the 5 x 16 array of light bulbs. This translation was done in a web based manner using Javascript in HTML pages and CGI pages on the server. This also allowed the artist to enter his patterns anywhere there was internet access and the data to be accessed from the place where the microcontroller was to be programmed.
